HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHER PROGRAM

AHA’s Housing Choice Voucher Program offers families, including elderly, disabled persons, veterans, and working families, the broadest range of choice in selecting where they live. Using a Housing Choice voucher, families can identify quality housing anywhere in the city of Alexandria with the assurance that they will not have to pay more than 30 percent of their adjusted income toward rent.

Property owners/landlords own and manage the properties and enter into landlord-tenant relationships with assisted families.

How to Apply for HCVP

Please note: At this time, the HCVP waiting is closed and we do not have an anticipated date for reopening.

AHA is currently serving more than 600 families on the HCVP program.

If you are currently on the waiting list, you must notify the housing authority in writing of any change in your address or household composition. If you do not update your information, you may lose your place on the waiting list.

Getting Started

Complete the request for listing form and email the form to r.tucker@alexhousing.org (Property Listing Request Form
Market your property to HCVP program participants
Screen and select an HCVP tenant and submit a Request for Tenancy Approval form (Request for Tenancy Approval Form)
